As mentioned in the previous announcements of RUK, the first congress of the RUK was held in the conferences hall of Sheraton Hotel in the capital city of Hawler on October the 10^th, 2006. Representatives of most political parties and organizations as well as academicians and intellectuals from all the four parts of Kurdistan were present at the inauguration. "The congress of the stabilization of national principles" started its work schedule under the slogan of "for Establishing another Kurdish Republic".

The congress was opened by Sayid Yazdanpana's parents. He is the founder of RUK. It was followed by playing the national anthem of "Ay Raqib" during which the audience stood up for the memory of the martyrs. Then Mr. Ali Qazi, the son of the Leader Qazi Mohammad, gave the opening speech.

One of the representing delegations was that of PDKI headed by Mr. Ali Mehrparwar, a politburo member, who presented a message from PDKI's politburo. Later on, a short shot was shown in which the RUK secretary general flies the flag of Kurdistan and pulls down the flag of Iran. It was warmly welcomed by the audience. Then the SG of RUK gave a briefing of the foundation, political innovations and the 15-year struggle of RUK. "The Congress is going to bring about fundamental changes", he said.  Then there were some pieces of music.

The activities happening during the 3-day congress included presenting a political – organizational report, discussing the report in details, reading out the constitution of RUK, approving a number of resolutions, choosing the leading institutions of RUK and finally announcing the outcomes and decisions of the congress.

The political – organizational report, presented by Mr. Husein Yazdanpanah, concentrated on a discussion of the Kurdish issue and the prevailing conditions of the world and Middle East as well as the 15-year struggle of RUK in all political, military, and organizational fields. In his report, he talked about the necessity of RUK's becoming a "party" changing its name, slogan and the symbolic color proposed by the central committee. Being discussed in details by the participants, the report was unanimously approved and all the suggestions were put on voting. The Congress concluded that RUK become a party and its new name is "Kurdistan Freedom Party" and the slogan was also approved. "Pink" was chosen as its symbolic color.

The constitution of PAK took long to be discussed carefully. The changes were made according to the suggestions and new opinions. Finally approved, the constitution has been worded quite patriotically and it is obviously different from other parties' programs and constitutions.

Then the leading institutions of PAK were chosen, in their turn. According to PAK's internal program, the elections started with electing the president of the party. The participants expected to choose the secretary – general as their president, but he told the audience that he had a more appropriate candidate who is the son of the leader Qazi Mohammad. He asked Mr. Qazi to accept his suggestion and the congress participants to vote for him. The chance was given to others if they would like to nominate. Mr. Qazi was then chosen as the president of the party.

The president of PAK as well as the participants and members of the congress insisted that Mr. Yazdanpanah should keep on working in a high – rank position. He was then elected as the vice – president of the party.

Later, PAK's "General Majlis", "Central Committee", and "Justice Office" were elected to lead, execute, and undertake the legal and justice affairs of the party until the next congress. 23 old members of PAK were elected to become members of the above-mentioned institutions.

The outcomes and decisions of the congress were announced on October the 12^th, 2006, in which representatives of most political parties and intellectuals from all parts of Kurdistan attended. This was presented by Mr. Yazdanpanah in which he highlighted the contents of the program of PAK. His speech was war,ly welcome by the audience.

Then there was a short speech given by Mr. Qazi in which he thanked the members of RUK describing it "the nicest day of his life".

At the end, it was the time for the messages from various political parties and organizations to be read out. The shortage of time prevented that to happen. The 3 – day congress was concluded by the national anthem of "Ay Raqib".
